Ridge Racer 2 Review
One of the best launch games, does its sequel better it?
So here it is, the sequel to the game that made me buy the PSP.
I find myself in a very difficult position, why? Well you see as a stand alone game RR2 is one of the best racers on PSP, so why difficult?
The problem here is the number “2” at the end. Straight off you’d think RR2 was a full blown sequel and yes in a way it is, but is it value for money?? Again, yes and no.
The gameplay is as tight as ever, the graphics are stunning, the music all pumps out with the usual RR tunes and style. Sure it’s a must have…………….if you don’t own Ridge Racer 1.
A few tracks and cars can’t make this game a “Full” sequel, instead it feels like a pack that could have been downloaded. The loading screens are the same, the menus, the graphics, in fact it’s had to tell the difference between this and RR1.
So what score can I give such a polished game that at the same time feels like a lazy sequel? I have to break this into two scores as it’s the only fair way to do this.
If you’ve not bought Ridge Racer 1 this is a 9 out of 10 all the way. If you own RR1 then I’m afraid this game is a 6 out of 10 at best
