Milestone has most recently been responsible for the solid if unremarkable pair of SBK-08 and Superstars V8 Racing.
"We are particularly proud to bring the WRC franchise back into the videogames arena after so many years of absence," said Black Bean's Virgilio Bixio
"Milestone has been working hard on this title and our expectations are really high. We will be able to provide the utmost competitive title that will provide extremely positive results. Furthermore, Milestone's work is enriched by the overwhelming support we have received from the WRC community."
However, there could be a couple of flies in the ointment for the team; Sony's behemoth Gran Turismo 5, due next Spring, will also be bearing the official licence, which itself has diminished somewhat of late with the World Rally Championship bearing the brunt of the car industry's recent struggles and losing several big manufacturers.
The game is coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, and is scheduled for release next year.
