Not Just Maps, Video and Mac Support
The PS Vita has changed for the better with firmware 1.60. The maps are a good addition but some little tweaks and fixes have been added as well as full PSP emulation bar demos.
When turning on the Vita the first change is the blue PS Button now glows blue, this is cool, everyone loves blue led lights right?
Another small change is the “Flight Mode” for wireless connections has now been moved to the first option on the settings page, which is handy for when you’re on a flight as you don’t have to go through all the network settings to turn it off.
As reported earlier the European PS3 and PS Vita can now 'Talk' to each other. The Vita can now see your downloaded PSP games. What you will see in the screen shot is the massive upgrade in resolution with Brothers in Arms over the PSP 3000. The load times are incredibly fast and left the PSP standing.
The biggest fix in this update? Messages. When the Vita is in standby mode the wireless connection will turn on at intervals to check for messages, I assume this is what happens as I sent a message but it didn’t come through straight away. So I sat and watched what happens. The PS Button turns on and flashes then it slowly lights up and fades, this is nothing new but it didn't work properly before. Press the button and it will show that you have a new message. This makes the 3G Vita essential now if you don't want to miss anything. The message is sent to both the PS3 and Vita.
It's worth pointing out that the Vitas browser is also much faster at loading pages now.
